Cuban Rhythms Workshop at Bolivar Hall
As part of a season of workshops on Latin American rhythm and dance, the Association of Latin American Attachés (ACALASP, Spanish acronym) organized an event at Bolivar Hall on 16th May where a “Cuban Rhythms” workshop was led by Cuban dancer Roberto Molina.
The workshop allowed the participants to enjoy a number of different Cuban rhythms, like the cha cha cha, conga, mambo, salsa and son. At the beginning of the event a short video was screened displaying typical images that represent musical life in Cuba. The video served as a taster of Cuban life and was aimed at stimulating an atmosphere and a state of mind ripe for learning how to dance.
The audience was made up of a variety of different people, including the cultural attachés from different Latin American Embassies here in London (Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Dominican Republic and Venezuela among others). Through dancing, the participants enjoyed a playful atmosphere.
The event finished with a cosy reception, where after such physical activity, all the participants were treated to typical drinks with a Latin American flavour.
