Dominican senate thanks president Chávez's cooperation
The Dominican Republic Senate approved a resolution thanking the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, for his cooperation with the Caribbean country.
The initiative from the Senator of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) Charlie Mariotti stresses the work carried out by President Chávez defending Latin American and Caribbean cultures, as informed by the Cuban Information Agency, AIN.
“We need to send a message of brotherhood and solidarity with the deepest love from the Dominican people to President Chávez for his help in the struggle against the problems we face whilst working towards development in the country, due to the economic conditions imposed by world oil markets”, Mariotti said, in the Dominican press.
Last Tuesday, in an article from the Spanish newspaper El País, the President of Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernández, stated that to be part of Petrocaribe, the 2005 Venezuelan led energy cooperation agreement, together with saving energy, allows his country to ease the rise of growing oil prices.
