Venezuela to produce over 11 million cubic feet of gas by 2012
Thanks to the gas projects put forth by the Bolivarian government, Venezuela expects to produce 11,500 million cubic feet of gas, said the Processing Director of PDVSA Gas, Antón Castillo.
The aim is to guarantee domestic supply and joint developments with other countries.
“Currently, PDVSA Gas is producing 6,300 million cubic feet of gas, and with the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho (Cigma) Complex we will be able to process an additional 600 million cubic feet of gas by mid 2009,” he explained.
This important project will contribute to the strengthening of Venezuela’s domestic market and sustainable development.
At the 18th Gas International Convention and 7th Gas Industrial Exhibition, held in Caracas between May 26 and May 29, PDVSA presented the main projects of the country’s Socialist Gas Revolution.
During this event, PDVSA Gas technicians displayed the advances of projects such as Gas Anaco, Cigma (Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho), ICO (Center West Interconnection) CCO (West Cryogenic Complex), Gasoducto Internacionales (International Gas Pipelines), and Gasoducto Eje Norte Llanero, among others.
Venezuela’s natural gas reserves rank 8th in the world, and 1st in Latin America, with 180 billion cubic feet of gas.
During a lecture given at the Gas International Convention, PDVSA Gas Processing General Manager, Andres Jimenez, stressed the transforming power of natural gas as the backbone of the country’s economic development
