NAM to Present Public View on Communication
Venezuela will chair the Conference of Ministers of Information of the Non-Aligned Countries (COMINAC), which will seek to promote the establishment of a New Information and Communication International Order.
Andrés Izarra, the Minister of People’s Power for communication and Information, announced the VII COMINAC will be held between July 2 and 4 in the north east of Venezuela on Margarita Island. The topic of the encounter is, “Challenges and Proposals for the unbiased communications vis-à-vis the current trends in the field of information and communication on the Southern hemisphere.”
“It is the Venezuelan people who have helped, who embody the spirit, the essence and the flesh, that are building this new communication flow proposed by Venezuela to the world,” said Izarra.
The VII COMINAC will gather delegations of the NAM member countries and observers of MNOAL, which are encouraged to move towards the consolidation of mutual cooperation so as to avoid problems in the international community, before the go to the trouble of promoting and establishing the New World Information and Communication Order. In this regard, the VII COMINAC will seek different ways to revitalise the Broadcasting Organisation of the Non-Aligned Countries (BONAC).
The VII COMINAC will discuss issues such as the decolonisation of information and the struggle against bias information and media campaigns against the NAM countries. Likewise, it will seek to exchange experiences regarding the best practices in the dissemination of information, and debate on the main tendencies and developments in the field of communication technology.
