The event was officially inaugurated by Venezuelan representative Jorge Valero
and the current president of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Cuban representative Abelardo Moreno.

The VII Conference of Ministers of Information of the Non-aligned Countries (COMINAC) was inaugurated yesterday in Margarita Island, in northeastern Venezuela by Venezuelan Deputy Minister for North America and Multilateral Organizations, Jorge Valero, and the Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abelardo Moreno.

In his address, Valero said that “the Non-Aligned Movement is being strengthened by this event.”
