Lukoil President confirms to visit Venezuela for talks in May

(Prime Tass) - "Vagit Alekperov, President of Russian oil major Lukoil (LKOH), has confirmed his plans to visit Venezuela in May for negotiations on cooperation in oil refining, Alekperov told reporters after meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko.

In March, Alekperov said that Lukoil was in talks with National Petroleum Company Petróleos de Venezuela, or PDVSA, over oil supplies from oil fields in Venezuela to U.S.-based oil refineries, controlled by PDVSA's subsidiary Citgo.

He said then that Lukoil had received a proposal regarding construction of an export-oriented oil refinery in Venezuela.

'I am going to Venezuela on May 23 with concrete proposals on concrete projects. I hope our projects will receive the approval of Venezuela's president and the country's oil ministry, so that we can draw up a contract by the year-end,' he said then".
