Venezuela eyes up to 7.0 pct consumption rise for 2005
(2001.com) - "Venezuela expects a rise of between 5.0 pct and 7.0 pct year-on-year in mass consumption to 55.9 trln Venezuelan Bolívars ($26.065 bln/20.218 bln euro) for 2005, according to a market survey carried out by Venezuelan market research company Datos Information Resources.
The survey was entrusted to Datos Information Resources by Venezuelan American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Venamcham).
In 2004 Venezuela reported an 18 pct year-on-year jump in mass consumption to 55.3 trln Bolívars ($25.786 bln/20.001 bln euro). In 2004 consumption rose mostly in relation to basic consumer goods, including food and drugs, and perishable goods. Biggest sales were generated in hypermarkets, malls, big chains, independent supermarkets, drug stores and hard-discount shops".
