Venezuelan Citgo pledges $1 mln to Hurricane Katrina relief

(Reuters) - "Citgo, the U.S. subsidiary of Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA, has pledged $1 million for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, the company's president said.

The donation follows offers from President Hugo Chávez to send cheap fuel and humanitarian aid after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the U.S. Gulf Coast (...)

'Our hearts go out to the victims of this terrible tragedy and Citgo stands prepared to offer its assistance,' Félix Rodríguez said in a statement, adding the donation had been supported by Chávez and Venezuela's state oil giant, PDVSA.

One of the top refiners in the United States with a high concentration of plants along the Gulf Coast, Citgo has seen operations at two refineries affected following Katrina (...) Citgo primarily processes Venezuelan crude.
