147 million dollars will be invested to modernise civil aviation

(El Universal) - "The government will invest around 147 million dollars in modernisation projects for Venezuelan civil aviation.

This announcement was made by the President of the National Aviation Institute (INAC), Francisco Paz Fleitas, after his visit to the International Aviation Organisation in Montreal.

While in Montreal, he explained there is a possibility of using resources from the Special Economic Assignations Law from years 2003-2004, which relates to the modernisation and optimisation of the Venezuelan aeronautic platform.

Paz Fleitas explained that this project proposes a progressive connection towards the implementation of modern technologies and the use of satellites to provide more dynamic and precise information in the Aeronautic Global System.

Among the benefits of this proposal is the provision of 10 radar stations, the purchasing of 3 ILS systems, 17 VOR/DME systems, the geodesic elevation of 33 airports and the purchase of 3 helicopters MI-17 for the National Search and Rescue System (SAR).

He also said they will build 2 control towers, 14 control towers will be equipped and 10 boarding tunnels will be built at the Autonomous Maiquetía Airport (IAAIM). Also 22 fire trucks and 6 rescue trucks will be purchased".
