Communications sector grew 10,2% in 2004

(El Universal) - "Communication activities grew 10,2% in 2004 compared to 2003, according to Venezuelan Central Bank (BCV).

The contribution of this sector to the Consolidated GDP was 3,06% at the end of last year. According to forecasts made by the National Communications Commission (CONATEL), operational incomes of these companies were 3.800 million dollars and private investments were of 616 million dollars.

In terms of dollars, incomes increased in 25,54% and investments in 162,45%.

More than 1.4 million lines were incorporated to the mobile phone market and the amount of users is now 8,4 million, 20,03% more than in 2003".
