Duhalde spoke in Chávez's defense

(Panorama Digital) - "Former Argentinean President, Eduardo Duhalde, said that oil is the main cause for the hostile attitude from the United States towards President Hugo Chávez.

'A country with oil worries the United States and Venezuela has the oil reserves', said Duhalde in an interview to Radio America.

Duhalde is a well-known representative of the current peronismo in Argentina and is also head of the organization that manages Mercosur.

Former President Duhalde also said 'Venezuela has a democratically elected government that suffered a coup d' etat supported by the United States'.

He also criticized statements made by third parties regarding Venezuela's negotiations.

'I don't understand why anyone should meddle in other country's sovereignty when it purchases armament', he said".
