Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda invited to energy summit in Venezuela

(A&B Government News) - "Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda has been invited to attend a special Energy Summit in Caracas being organized by President Venezuelan Hugo Chávez.

Prime Minister Spencer received the invitation from Special Envoy Dr. Delcy Rodríguez who is on a swing throughout CARICOM seeking support for the summit. Antigua and Barbuda has been examining ways it can deal with the rising cost of fuel and areas for the economical importation of the commodity.

It was propsed that Petro Caribe becomes a reality in the same way as a petroleum cooperation which was agreed between Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil.

The visiting Venezuelan delegation which met with Prime Minister Spencer and Deputy Prime Minister Wilmoth Daniel; included the Venezuelan Director General of Hydrocarburos Iván Orellana, Minister Counsellor Luis Nino and Assistant Engineer Beatriz Dam. The Antigua and Barbuda team was supported by Ambassadors Joan Underwood and Colin Murdoch".
