JOSÉ ALBERTO REQUENA was born in Margarita, where he began musical studies under the guide of his father at the age of ten. He continued at the Escuela Modesta Bohr where he met the mandolin maestro Alberto Valderrama, who invited him to join the Typical Orchestra of Margarita. He entered the Youth Orchestra System of Venezuela as member of the Orquesta Juvenil de Nueva Esparta under Rómulo Lazarde. In Caracas, he studied clarinet at the Conservatorio Simón Bolívar, and eventually joined the Orquesta Juvenil del Distrito Federal under José Antonio Abreu. Passionate for Venezuelan traditional music, he funded the group Ensamble 4, with which he recorded a CD and represented |
Venezuela in the Expo Sevilla and Expo Hannover among other places. José Alberto Requena has performed with Cecilia Todd, Serenata Guayanesa, Aquiles Báez, Jam Jazz trio, Do en Cuarta and El Cuarteto. He currently lives in London where he still studying under the guidance of David Campbell.

DAVID CAMPBELL, Clarinet. The master David Campbell is recognized internationally as a concerto soloist and chamber musician and has performed in over forty countries. He has made countless radio broadcasts for the BBC and for classic FM as well as television appearances, and his extensive discography reflects his wide ranging repertoire. He is passionate about music education and is highly regarded internationally as a teacher. He has given master classes and courses in Brazil, Peru, Mexico, the USA, Australia, Zimbabwe, France, Germany, Poland, Cyprus, Greece, Corfu, Malta, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, and parts of Britain.

David Campbell, who has taught al LCMM for 20 years is also Artistic Director of Musicfest- Aberystwyth, an International Festival and Summer School held in July; Visiting professor and Artis-in-Residence at Canterbury Christ Church University College, Woowind Consultant at Wells Cathedral School; Clarinet Consultant to Besson Musical Instrument and UK Chair of the International Clarinet Association.

JONATHAN DUKE, piano, studied at Trinity College London where he was a pupil of John Bingham. He was also a pupil of Christine Crowshaw for piano accompaniment for which he was awarded the Lilian Florence Smith Prize. He performs regularly as a soloist and as an accompanist which he also combines with a teaching career. Among his recent performances are Stravinskys's Soldiers Tale" Sounds New 2003", John McCabe's Fauvel's Rondeaux , two performances of Schuman's Piano Quintet with the Becker Quartet and Poulenc's Sextet with the Crowther Wind Quintet. He has recorded a CD with oboist John Willians and another with own group" The Duke Ensemble". |
