VIII Bolívar Hall Classical
Guitar Festival
This festival follows its traditional juxtaposition
of the Series of International Guitarists (6)
and that of Inter Collegiate concerts (5).
Maestro LUIS ZEA, from Venezuela, opened with
a performance on Monday March 8, and offered a
free master class on Saturday 6th at 2:00 pm at
the Bolívar Hall, for all those interested
in polishing their Venezuelan and Latin American
repertoire.
RENE TORIELLO, a fresh surprise from Guatemala,
plays on Friday 19. On Sunday 21st, MARCO PEREIRA,
the young star from Brazil has his début
in London, followed on Monday 22nd by the American
DUO NEWMAN-OLTMAN. Spain's PABLO SAINZ VILLEGAS,
a winner of 13 International competitions will
perform on Wednesday 24 and the popular British
guitarist GRAHAM ANTHONY DEVINE, recent winner
of the Alhambra International Guitar Competition
will close the festival on Friday 26.
The Inter Collegiate concerts, co-ordinated this
year by Allan Neave form the Scottish Academy
of Music and Drama are on March 11, 16, 18, 23
and 25. They feature students from the Royal College
of Music, the Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall
School of Music and Drama, Trinity College of
Music, The Welsh Royal College of Music, the Scottish
Academy of Music and Drama and the Birmingham
Conservatoire.
