The New Ways of Cultural Diplomacy
(Boletín
Diplomacia Cultural, No 26 Year 1) On August
25th, the Cultural Attaché of the Venezuelan
Embassy in the United Kingdom, Mrs. Gloria Carnevali,
offered a conference titled "The New Ways
of Cultural Diplomacy" at the Venezuelan
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mrs. Carnevali is
also the President of the Association of Cultural
Attachés of Latin America, Spain and Portugal
in the United Kingdom.
In
her exposition, she talked about the great strengths
and attractions that Venezuela has to present
the rest of the world and all the spaces available
to fill with artistic expressions, as for example
Venezuelan Folklore. Regarding this, she even
informed that the first steps have been taken
in order to explore the possibility of making
Venezuela the next host of the "Strictly
International Festival", which promotes music
from different parts of the world.
Regarding
the cultural programme of the Venezuelan Cultural
mission in London, she said that the Embassy currently
keeps the Bolivar Hall busy with more than 200
events per year. Half the year is dedicated to
the association with other Latin American Embassies
and the rest is dedicated to the "Independent
Programme", which offers this space to young
artists who are initiating in the cultural field.
She thinks that the Bolivar Hall has to help promote
Venezuelan artists in Europe and emphasised on
the importance of Venezuela's participation in
international festivals.
