Chávez tells he ready
to face Venezuela vote
(Reuters) - "Venezuelan President
Hugo Chávez told former U.S. President
Jimmy Carter he would submit to a recall vote,
if required, and allow foreign observers to check
the electoral process.
'I repeated to President Carter ... that whatever
the National Electoral Council decides, my government
will accept it,' Chávez said. 'If the council
says there will be a referendum against Chávez,
then we'll go to the referendum; I've got no problem
with that' (
