China and Venezuela
reach an agreement to reactivate the national
rail service
(Ministry of Foreign Affairs) -
"The governments of the Bolivarian Republic
of Venezuela and the Popular Republic of China,
subscribed the complementary agreement of a Technical
and Economic Cooperation Treaty for the reactivation
of the Venezuelan rail service.
The document was introduced by the
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roy Chaderton Matos,
on behalf of the Venezuelan government and by
the Ambassador of China in Caracas, Ju Yijie,
on behalf of the Chinese government.
Representatives of the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs of the Embassy of China and
the Autonomous Rail Institute successfully completed
the negotiations on the Complementary Agreement
of the Bilateral Cooperation Treaty for the reactivation
of the Venezuelan rail service.
Authorities from both parties agreed
that this is one of the most important economical
cooperation projects between China and Venezuela.
The Chinese government will
be involved in the reactivation of the railways,
including repairing, maintenance and modernisation
during the following two years. The National Rail
System is planned to be a network of approximately
4.000 km to be developed in 20 years and it is
conformed by a system that will respond to economical
and social needs".
