CVG Edelca covered 65,58% of
the national demand
(Venpres) - "Thanks to the incorporation
of four generating units of the Hydroelectric
Central Caruachi during year 2003, the Venezuelan
Corporation of Guayana (CVG) through its subsidiary
Electrificación del Caroní, achieved
an increase of 1,5% in its offer in order to cover
65,58% of the total demand, compared to year 2002,
when 64% of the market was satisfied.
During 2003, CVG Edelca produced
58.539 million kilowatts of clean and reliable
energy per hour, through its centres in Guri,
Macagua and Caruachi. In the thermic sector, the
CVG offered 30.000 million kilowatts per hour,
of a total of 89.279 million kilowatts per hour
that were offered in the National Interconnected
System.
This company allowed the Venezuelan
government to save 122.347.000 equivalent oil
barrels, an average of 335.200 daily (BEPD) thanks
to the good use of the hydro electrical potential
of the Caroni river".
