Venezuela tax collections at
$7.5 billion in 2003
(Reuters) - "Venezuela's tax agency
said it collected 12 trillion bolivars, or US$7.5
billion, in revenues last year, about 10 percent
short of its target due to a dip in customs taxes.
The Seniat tax and customs agency said its total
revenues improved 27 percent from a year earlier.
The revenue target for 2003 was 13.4 trillion
bolivars, or $8.4 billion, at the current fixed
exchange rate of 1,600 bolivars to the U.S. dollar.
Domestic tax revenues increased 44 percent to
9.26 trillion bolivars from 6.42 trillion bolivars
a year earlier".
