Venezuelan
Independence Day
On the occasion of the 193rd Anniversary
of the declaration of independence - July 5th
1811- the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela celebrated
on 5th of July 2004 a special act in front of
Simón Bolívar's sculpture, located
in Belgravia Square in London.
The event was led by the Ambassador
of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in London,
Alfredo Toro Hardy, and the Defense Attaché,
Rear Admiral Luis Alberto Mérida Galindo
who were in charge of the floral tribute left
near to the Simón Bolívar sculpture.
In the act were also present the ambassadors of
several Latin American countries, as well as the
diplomatic and defense staff of the Venezuelan
Embassy.
As part of the Independence
Day celebrations, the Embassy of Venezuela in
London offered at the Bolívar Hall, special
culture events such as Classical Music, Afro-Venezuelan
drums, films and documentaries, talks and theatre
performances for the Venezuelan community and
friends. These events took place between July
1st and 9th 2004.
