National Assembly approved additional
funds for reservoirs and treatment plants
(BNamericas.com) - "The finance committee
of Venezuela's National Assembly has approved
an additional 15.9bn bolivares (US$8.3mn) for
reservoirs and treatment plants, state news agency
Venpres reported.
Of the total financing, which will be channeled
through the environment and natural resources
ministry, 2.4bn bolivares will be used immediately
on reservoir maintenance works due to their social
development importance, said the report.
Reservoirs targeted for an immediate funds injection
include El Guamo (Monagas state), Clavellinas
(Sucre state), Agua Viva (Trujillo state), Majaguas
(Portuguesa state), Onia (Mérida), and
Acarigua and Quediches (Lara state). The ministry
is responsible for some 100 reservoirs."
