Social programmes reach 47% of the population

(El Universal) - "Almost half of the population has benefited from at least one of the social programmes developed by Chávez's Administration. According to the last poll carried out by 'Datos Information Resources', 47% of Venezuelans have used these types of programmes, especially Mercal, Barrio Adentro and Ribas.

Vice-president of the polling company, Alie Charr, said the most popular social programmes are those related to the satisfaction of basic needs (...)

She explained how between 2003 and 2006 the average income of 'E' social stratus increased 159% and the 'D' stratus saw an increase in their income of 48%. These polls indicate that, in average, family income among the poor has increased 150% (...)".
