Located towards the northwest of Venezuela, Coro was one of the first settlements in the American Continent and the First Capital of the New created Province of Venezuela.
On July 26th, 1527, Juan de Ampíes founded this beautiful city, when Coro was still under the domains of the "caquetíos".
It's in Coro where began to seed a personality that we called Venezuelan, a cultural stage where Spain started to become Venezuela. Being the Capital of Venezuela, Coro was a model for the
old cities: Tocuyo, Barquisimeto, Valencia, Caracas, Maracaibo.
Headquarters of the First Archbishopric created in South America,
was here also where began the Christianization of the Country.
Coro is historic also because here has been preserved some of the most important fossils and archaeological sites of South America.
Its cultural and religious legacy, make the City of Coro a meaningful treasure of great importance.
Besides these facts, Coro is the most important Venezuelan city from a historical point of view. Walking around its old stone streets, we can still see a colonial time that won't die. Their long and meritorious past has justify a group of constructions of bahareque, adobe walls from the XVI century that distinguish Coro as the city of mud which importance rises in the world.
Coro, capital of the Falcon State, is also cradle of one of the most exotic landscapes in the whole venezuelan geography: The Dunes of Coro that haven't stopped running and flooding the sand like a live and incessant river.
Coro, capital of Falcon, was the first city that settled down in the newly created Venezuela and it was its capital until 1576. A special invitation to visit the colonial district whose houses and churches of mud are National Monuments and reflect today our historical past. Coro is distinguished by being the only place in Venezuela declared World Cultural Heritage Site by the UNESCO.

Also of appreciating the works carried out in mud, replicas in miniature of the historical buildings, the dolls, the colonial houses as well as the works of furniture and "cestería", that offer the different crafts shops and local artisans.
To the east, go visit La Vela, place where for the first time our National Tricolor Flag was hoisted for the General Francisco of Miranda. Also, at the port of Muaco you could take Ferrys towards the neighboring islands of Curacao and Aruba, service put into operation from the past November 1997.
To the south, visit Meachiche, the Waterfalls of Hueque and the Falcon Mountains, places of exceptional beauty and for your enjoyment.
To the north, the Park National Medanos of Coro , the mini-sahara from Venezuela, with their dunes of gold endless sand, where boys and adults could enjoy spectaculars evenings and observe a varied characteristic vegetation of this region, while the dunes change of form and are in constants movement for the.
