National Assembly (AN) hands the CNE its constitutional reform timetable (VHeadline.com) - "The National Assembly (AN) has handed the National Electoral Council (CNE) its timetable for a national consultation process on constitutional reform proposals.
AN president, Cilia Flores says debates on President Chávez' constitutional reform will end the last week of October and voting will take place on the first week of November.
According to the Constitution, the CNE must organise a referendum within 30 days after the vote. In that case, Flores suggests, the referendum could take place on December 2.
However, there is a possibility that it could be on December 9 but that would be the ultimate date.
Flores maintains that the assembly is working in a coordinated manner with the CNE so that the timetable for the consultation process and the passing of the project coincide with the CNE's timetable for a referendum".
