Second discussion about Constitutional Reform to be next week

(ABN) - "On September 11th, National Assembly will start the discussion about the Constitutional Reform Project presented by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez Frías.

The announcement was made by the President of the National Assembly, Cilia Flores, after the meeting that she held with the mixed commission discussing the reform proposal.

She explained that was approved by the mixed commission the report of the second discussion; therefore, the second discussion of the project can be done during the plenary.

Regarding the debate carried out by the mixed commission, Flores said: 'Titles and chapters of the articles of the reform proposal were adjusted' and she added: 'It will be in the third discussion when each article will be discussed'.

Flores also pointed out that the mixed commission will receive the Rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Vicente Díaz, who has asked permission to talk in Parliament.

She also said that mixed commission agreed to visit different regions of the country. 'We will visit the states Yaracuy, Cojedes, Carabobo, and Aragua, as part of the public consultation', she stated.

The parliamentarian commented that the commission will receive representatives from political parties opposing National Government who have asked for a right to speak about the Constitutional Reform Project.

By other hand, Flores underscored that 50 activities of social street parliaments were made during last weekend. She also emphasized that, during last week, they received in National Assembly different sectors of Venezuelan society, such as youth and intellectuals.

Flores highlighted that the Parliament is devoted full time to debate the constitutional reform and urged all deputies to keep doing this job.

'There are some sectors trying to sabotage and to make a show through provocation and then show themselves as victims', Flores pointed out, who also talked about the discredit campaigns trying to sabotage the work carried out by the National Assembly in the debate on the reform proposal".
