Venezuela sends humanitarian aid to Bolivia

(El Universal) - "President Hugo Chávez' government is donating some 10 tons of supplies to Bolivia, in an effort to help this country face a crisis emerging from recent heavy rains that have left 13 people dead and 34,000 casualties.

The supplies Venezuela is to send to Bolivia include imperishable goods, tools, drinking water, medicines and blankets. Caracas is also sending doctors, engineers and experts in communications and disasters.

The mission is headed by colonel Antonio Rivero, director of the Venezuelan Civil Protection agency, who claimed that the Venezuelan aid efforts responded to a request from the Bolivian government".
