More than 20 postulations for committee that will elect the new directors of the National Electoral Council

(El Universal) - "The Preliminary Commission of the National Assembly has received 'between 20 and 30 postulations' to form the committee that will elect the new directors of the National Electoral Council (CNE). However, the MP's who are receiving the postulations are very optimistic and say this number will increase 'a lot' before the last day for postulations which is 24th February.

The Preliminary Commission organised a meeting with members of the Catholic and Evangelic Church , as well as members of the Comptroller's office, Attonery General's office and Defender of the People's Office and the Supreme Court of Justice, in order to promote the participation of social organisations in the election of the new CNE and 'exchange impressions on how to contribute with the process'.

It is obvious that people are really interested in the country's future and that we are going through a situation in which the only peaceful, democratic and legal solution is an electoral process.

One of the MP's said the intention is to avoid political activism or impartiality in the conformation of the new CNE directorate (...)".
