International Atomic Energy Agency okays Venezuela water projects (Prensa Latina) - "The International Atomic Energy Agency has given permission for eight Venezuelan projects to use nuclear techniques for assessment and management of water resources, university sources informed.
The proposals are part of a national program for the application of nuclear technology in the sector, an initiative by the Energy and Oil Ministry s Alternative Energy Office, according to Universia online.
The IAEA approved eight of the 20 sub-projects presented, with those accepted including two by the Universidad de Oriente, in Sucre State .
The plans contain a hydrological study of thermal waters in Venezuela s eastern region and a characterization of the upper basin of the Manzanares River.
The application of nuclear techniques in the two-year projects is to benefit local communities".
