Nicaragua receives first Venezuela oil shipment

(Inside Costa Rica) - "Nicaragua received an oil shipment of 60 thousand barrels from Venezuela as part of the advantageous cooperation agreements signed between the two countries in the framework of the Bolivarian Alternative of the Americas (ALBA).

The Vessel Perla del Caribe that brings cisterns with two million 100 thousand gallon of diesel and 420 thousand gallon of oil berthed at Corinto port, at 93.20 miles north of Managua and the 16:00 local hour (21:00 UTC).

José Peña, Manager of Venezuela-Nicaragua enterprise Alba Petróleos in Nicaragua (ALBANIC) explained that one part of the combustible will be given at preferential payment to the urban transportation cooperative in the capital.

Transportation workers agreed to reduce fare price on January to 2.50 cordobas (us$0.14) in exchange for diesel delivery at subsidiary prices by the Mayoralty, recalled the manager.

ALBANIC was born from the agreement signed between the Association of Nicaraguan Mayors and Venezuela Oil State Corporation (PDVSA) in April 2006 to supply the country with the fuel in favourable conditions of payment.

The shipment is the first the country receives since the signing of agreements between Ortega and his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chávez who met in Caracas to evaluate how the pact have been set in motion".
