Venezuela boosts China aerospace cooperation (Prensa Latina) - "Venezuelan professions to receive aerospace technological training in China for the future operation of the Simón Bolívar satellite, being built in the Asian nation, official sources reported.
According to the Science and Technology Ministry, 60 specialists will travel to Beijing to join 30 experts already doing Masters and PhDs in the construction of satellite platforms.
The new group includes informatics technicians, engineers in systems, telecommunications, electronics and computer sciences and will study subjects linked to orbit control and traffic management.
Among the objectives of the Simón Bolívar Project is the operation of the first Venezuelan satellite that will fulfill needs of the country in the traffic of signals, telemedicine, education and public communications with institutions of the State, communities and other production centers.
This project will also serve to create a satellite network for social purposes as well as guarantee the technological sovereignty of Venezuela.
The first phase will be for the construction of the equipment, launch and placement in the final position. The second phase will be for the maintenance in orbit and traffic management".
