Dominican and Venezuelan people move towards Bolivarian integration (Presidential Press Office) - "The time of unity has come. Energy, education, tourism and culture agreements were ratified. President Chávez paid tribute to the Dominican martyrs, including Pierre Charles, leader of the Dominican people, as he reiterated his call for the real union of the nations
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, endorsed four bilateral agreements and a memorandum of understanding in the fields of education, tourism, communication and popular economy in order to consolidate the integration between Venezuela and Dominica based on cooperation, solidarity, equality and social justice.
The endorsement of these agreements set the foundations of the Bolivarian integration 'because both countries are a single nation, the Caribbean nation,' assured the Venezuelan head of State.
He said he was happy for visiting "this magical land of Dominica" and paid tribute to the martyr Dominican Pierre Charles, leader of this people.
He also quoted the Liberator Simón Bolívar: 'It is union what we are lacking in order to complete our regeneration. The time of unity has come; let's do it and not waste time.'
The Venezuelan president mentioned that these agreements are very important and acknowledged the will of his Dominican counterpart, Nicholas Liverpool, and of the Dominican Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, to materialize the agreements.
Before the agreement endorsement, President Chávez held two private meetings. The first one with his counterpart Nicolás Liverpool, and the second one with the Prime Minister Sketrrit.
The Dominican delegation of the Prime Minister Skerrit, was comprised by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Work and Exportation, Charles Savarin; Housing, Land, Telecommunications, Energy and Harbor, Reginald Austrie; Education, Development, Human Resources, Sports and Youth, Vince Henderson; Health and Social Security, John Fabien; Community Development, among other important personalities of the Dominican Government.
The Venezuelan delegation was comprised by the Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Nicolás Maduro; Tourism, Olga Cecilia Azuaje; Communication and Information, Willian Lara; and Culture, Francisco Sesto.
Before arriving in Dominica, President Chávez made a stopover in Martinique, where he was received by Yves Dassonville, and the consul general, Yasmín Correa.
As he arrived in Dominica, the Venezuelan president also made a stopover in the Melville Hall Airport in order to supervise the works, carried out together with the Republic of Cuba, to expand the terminal".
