Chinese company Huawei and Telecom Venezuela to manufacture mobile phones

(MENAFN News) - "The Venezuelan Telecommunications Minister has announced that a joint venture involving Telecom Venezuela and the Chinese company Huawei will produce approximately 2 million mobile phones annually in the South American country, AP reported.

He said that the model will use the global standard for mobile communications, or GSM, the technology which allows users to access services in different countries.

The mobile phone factory is one of several cooperation agreements signed between the two countries since 1999, including a deal to buy a satellite from China that would give the South American nation autonomy in telecommunications".
