CNE to present four draft laws at the National Assembly (Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias) - "The National Electoral Council (CNE, by its Spanish acronym) will present, in upcoming weeks, four draft laws at the National Assembly in different fields such as the creation of an automated civil registry system, the new rules for the political organizations and electoral processes.
The information was given by the CNE principal member Marcos Yépez Colmenares.
During an interview broadcast through the state-run channel 8, Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Yépez Colmenares said that 'the creation of an automated civil registry is the draft law that we want to speed up.'
He said: 'According to the Organic Law of Electoral Power, the CNE is obliged to manage a unifying civil registry aimed at solving the difficulties to carry out any procedure.'
Yépez Colmenares also said that they expect to incorporate to the draft law the experiences of the First International Meeting of Experts in Civil registry that will take place in Caracas from July 18th to 20th.
The Law of political organizations will be another draft law that will be presented at the National Electoral, Yépez pointed out.
'Through this law, we expect to define the functions of these organizations focused on political activities. The political parties are included in the law, but also those organizations that play a political role,' he said.
Furthermore, he said that a draft law for financing will be also commission to the National Assembly in order to make changes in the current regulations. 'However, important changes are not expected in the rules.'
He also said that they will present a draft law for electoral processes and referendums including the recent experience of the activation of revocatory referendums.
Ten revocatory referendums, which will activated through the recollection of signatures last June, will be carried out next October 7th".
