(Prensa Latina) - "Venezuelan authorities have seized 28.55 tons of drugs so far this year and detained 1,346 people, including 131 foreigners, for drug-related crimes, the National Drug Enforcement Agency (ONA) informed on.

The latest ONA report indicates that the largest bulk seized was of cocaine (15.64 tons), followed by marihuana (44.43 tons) and heroin (73.86 kg).

Foreigners detained include Colombians, Spanish, Italians and US citizens.

These figures reflect a joint action of six armed institutions in a policy oriented to fight the use of the country as a bridge in trafficking drugs bound for the United States and Europe, as well as production and consumption of illegal substances in the counter".
