$37 million for tributary modernization

(El Universal) -"The National Integrated Service for Tax and Customs Administration (SENIAT), the Inter American Development Bank (BID) and the United Nations Programme for Development (PNUD), signed a project for modernization of customs and tax administration.

This project will allow the spending of $37 million, from which $18.5 million will come from the BID and $18.5 million will come from the Venezuelan government. These amounts will be invested in the follow-up of technological and infrastructural developments of the service (...)

The National Supervisor of Internal Revenue, Noel González, explained that the PNUD will be the administrator in this project and will hire works, goods and services.

Gonzàlez added that among the specific objectives of the project there is the activation of the most modern customs centre in Latin America, located in Barquisimeto, as well as an ambitious chemical laboratory, the modernization of the tributary juridical ordinance, the training of officials, the updating of the data base and the acquisition of technology for investigation of different forms of tributary evasion".
