The National Electoral Council creates electoral watchers

(Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias) - "In order to guarantee the mechanisms of the electoral process during next December's presidential elections, Directors of the Electoral Power approved the proposal by the political and Financing Participation Commission of the Electoral Council (CNE), for the creation of electoral watchers

This was informed by Germán Yépez, principal of the CNE, on the radio programme of the electoral centre 'Sufragio', which was transmitted by Radio Nacional. He said that electoral watchers will guarantee that norms for advertising and propaganda during the electoral campaign are complied with.

He added that with the support of the Follow-up and Information Directorate of the electoral organisation, 18 national electoral watchers and 48 regional ones will be in charge of doing a daily follow-up of the electoral campaign in order to sanction those who infringe the advertising and propaganda rules that will be approved this week by the CNE".
