Venalum offers aluminum to Brazil and Argentina

(El Universal) - "State company Industria Venezolana del Aluminio (Venalum) is to offer the sale of 70,000 tons of aluminum out of its 2006 surplus during the business rounds to be held with 30 Brazilian and Argentinean companies next June 9th in Brasilia.

Venalum CEO Isaías Suárez Chourio explained also that the surplus of the production that could not be placed in the domestic market due to restricted installed capacity of national companies would be traded and delivered during the second half of 2006.

At the present time, Venalum output averages 436,000 annual tons of primary aluminum in ingots, pans and cylinders. Aluminios del Caroní (Alcasa) produces additional 220,000 tons.

During the negotiations, Venezuela will be introduced as a reliable provider of primary aluminum, laminated aluminum, electric cables and conductors, foil paper for food packaging and other aluminum-based items, official news agency ABN quoted".
