Petro Caribe secures deal to supply Grenada electricity company with diesel.

(Grenada Broadcasting Network) - "The Grenada Electricity Company (GRENLEC) and other companies may soon have an alternative source for purchasing fuel when the Grenada Venezuela Petro Caribe deal comes on stream.

Energy Minister Gregory Bowen says implementation of Petro Caribe could be between six and twelve months.

He says Petro Caribe has secured a deal to supply GRENLEC with diesel over the next five years. 'We have people from PDVSA, a part of the Petro Caribe Grenada Limited, talking to GRENLEC, and looking at the sites for building the tanks. Also eight bidders will be in Grenada bidding to build the tank farms, so within six weeks; we should get a winner of the bid.'

Minister Bowen said he is hoping that shell will buy from Petro Caribe which will be offering lower prices than the regular agent".
