Venezuela gets presidency of the South American Migration Conference

(Xinhua) - "Venezuela has received the rotating presidency of the South American Conference on Migration.

The rotating presidency will upgrade Venezuela's international position and leadership in the field of migration, Jorge Valero, the nation's ambassador to the Organization of American States, told reporters.

Venezuela, which is hosting the seventh one-day South American Conference on Migration, received the presidency from Paraguay.

The participants of the meeting fixed a regional position on migration for the International Migration Organization meeting, which is set to run from Monday to Wednesday next week in the Belgian city of Brussels.

The first meeting of the South American Migrations Group was held in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires in 2000. The meeting was attended by Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Guyana and Surinam".
