Valencia's underground system begins operating in October
(El Universal) - "The underground system in Valencia city will begin its pre-operational phase in October 2006 and its official operation in March 2007.
José Rocha Galíndez, President of the company Metro de Valencia, said this massive transport system will have capabilities for 150.000 passengers who will be able to board the trains at the 7 stations that integrate the first stage of the system (...)
Rocha Galindez said '450 million dollars of the total 650 million that the system costs have been already used. In general terms, 83% of the works of the Valencia underground system are completed, the remaining 17% have to do with equipment that has not been yet been installed like lighting and escalators'.
The Valencia underground system will have two lines to cover the 4 cardinal points of Carabobo's state capital. It will have 24 stations in total, distributed and located through 24 kms of underground length (...)".
