Chávez calls for a meeting with clergy "without a hidden agenda"

(El Universal) - "Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino said his welcoming reception, headed by President Chávez at the International Airport, was 'extraordinary' (...)

President Chávez highlighted "the need to have permanent dialogue between the clergy and the government. "Dialogue is an option we cannot resign, each one of us with a vision, with a way of understanding and acting according to the country's reality, but with an open dialogue".

He also recognized the 'silent and patient work' by the Apostolic Nuncio Giacinto Berlocco on the road to dialogue. He asked 'the good friends at the catholic hierarchy for debate, public dialogue, without hidden agendas and always in good faith' (...)

He told the Cardinal that he can count on him as a citizen and as Head of State 'to help and continue building the road to real peace'.

Cardinal Urosa Savino thanked the reception and said 'Cardinals, as well as bishops have to be links to the Roman church, factors of union, understanding and searchers of solutions to common problems in the country and local churches' (...)".
