President Chávez announces Integral Plan of Agricultural Development 2007-2008 (Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias, ABN).-The President Hugo Chávez announced the new Integral Plan of Agricultural Development 2007-2008, aimed at seeking the full food sovereignty in the country.
The Venezuelan leader made the announcement during his TV program Aló, Presidente (Hello, President) on Sunday from Barinas state.
The President said 'the main objective is to boost the new production model based on the principles of the agricultural socialism and the social property.'
He stated that the agricultural plan owns main and strategic food items. The first group includes rice, sugar cane, cacao, soy, coffee, cattle, fishing and apiculture. To fulfill the production, the government will build plants with the support of the Belarus ' government.
Meanwhile, the second group is formed by the corn, cotton, tubers, fruits, vegetables, sorghum and forest species".
