Government's decision to not renew Rctv's license is not a political decision (Agencia Bolívariana de Noticias)- "Venezuela's Telecommunication Minister Jesse Chacón Escamillo said that the decision taken by the Venezuelan state to not renew Rctv's license is not a political decision but a natural fact because of the expiration of the broadcasting license for Rctv.
'If it would concern a political decision, on April 14th, 15th and 16th, the government would have opened an administrative procedure and it would have closed all the television channels because of all the Venezuelans know about the active participation of the private TV stations in the April 2002 coup attempt', Minister Chácon said.
Although the international community recognized the coup d'état against President Chávez in 2002, it has not been penal decisions and any administrative procedure has been opened.
'A long time has passed since the coup d'état to the expiration of the Rctv's broadcasting license; however, the time passed, the broadcasting license expired and the government decided to give the population the first public TV channel', he said"
