Venezuela declares war on drug-trafficking (Xinhua) - "Venezuelan Interior Minister Pedro Carreño said in the central state of Miranda that the government has declared war on drug-trafficking.
Carreño said three new punitive rules will be applied to companies involved in drug trafficking.
'The first will be financial -a fine that matches the drug's value in U.S. dollars. The second will be the suspension of the airline, shipping and trucking companies. The third will be the revoking of a firm's license to operate in Venezuela,' he said.
He also called on the United States to launch a campaign against its drug users.
Venezuela suspended anti-drug collaboration with the United States in August 2005, saying that the U.S. government had been spying against the Venezuelan government using anti-drug activities as a cover".
