CNE ensures speedy local referendums (El Universal) - "The National Electoral Council (CNE) vowed to ensure a fast, transparent process in any referendum that may be held this year to challenge the administration of governors, mayors or local deputies, said CNE Vicepresident Janeth Hernández.
The high-ranking official appeared in 'En Confianza,' a show aired on public TV channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV). There, she recalled that CNE has 12,000 fingerprint reading machines for any probe in the near future.
'CNE has enough equipment for a quick referendum. At the time of capturing the decisions or collecting signatures, the biometric systems used during the last election will be available again,' she explained.
As reported by Hernández, anyone willing to support a recall referendum should be subject to the fingerprint reading machine.
As quoted by official Agencia Bolívariana de Noticias (ABN); Hernández added that the automatic process will ensure, among others, onsite audit".
