The government is not against private education (Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias) - "The national government will increase supervision in private institutions to guarantee they are fully operational, but 'does not intend to eliminate private education'.
This was explained by Minister of Education Adán Chávez during the TV programme José Vicente Hoy.
Minister Chávez said there are private schools in Venezuela that operate correctly. However, there are others that do not comply with established parameters. A demonstration that the government is not looking to eliminate private education is the recent signing of a subsidy renovation for the educational centres of the Venezuelan Association of Catholic Schools (Avec)."
