(Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias) President Hugo Chávez announced his government will build 35 High Tech medical centers as part of the social health programme 'Barrio Adentro'.

He also said 310 of the 600 schedule diagnosis centers have been inaugurated, as well as 420 of the 600 rehabilitation areas that are planned.

President Chávez highlighted that this year, 10,629,184 medical consultations have been made and both ophthalmology operations and consultations reached 131,477 during the present year, while the total reached 7,016,234.

Also 291,427 eyeglasses were prescribed and provided to patients last year and more than 2,400,000 since the programme started. 880,000 dental consultations have been made in 2007, which add to the total 23,700,000.
