High-Tech medical equipments to fit Venezuelan public hospitals

(Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias) - "Investments in the Venezuelan health sector were not made for over 40 years. Medical staffs will be trained to use the new equipments that will e available to provide the people with free medical care.

This year, the Ministry of Health will reach 60% of the installation of tomography machines in the 25 most important Venezuelan public hospitals. This will allow making early diagnosis of different diseases affecting the health of a great part of the Venezuelan population.

The National Coordinator of Barrio Adentro 3, MD Leonor Franco, informed that the Ministry of Health is currently receiving proposal of companies that want to participate in the acquisition process of this equipments such as Toshiba, which explained the advantages of its 16- and 24-section tomography machines, as well as their operative characteristics and guarantee.

Likewise, he said that other companies will take part. They will have to explain their equipments' characteristics and advantages and how they will be able to benefit the population.

Franco highlighted that "Venezuela is going to be one of the few countries in the world that will rely on high-tech equipments. This will allow us to make early diagnosis of diseases regardless of religion, race, economic status or political leaning."

According to the Venezuelan health ministry, these equipments embody an important progress regarding medical care. "We are directly working with the people in hospitals and making a great effort so that medical doctors, radiology technicians thoroughly learn and know these equipments in order to guarantee their appropriate functioning and long life in our hospitals," explained Franco.

She said that there is a long way to walk regarding medical care. "The health problem in Venezuela is more complex than the endowment of equipments, but this new technology will make it easier for us to work and increase the offer of our service."
