Brazilian Foreign Affairs Minister: Venezuela's joining to Mercosur is essential

(Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias) - "Brazilian Foreign Affairs Minister, Celso Amorín, said that Venezuela's joining to the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) is important for the Latin American integration.

'For us, the Venezuela's entry into Mercosur is important; it will help us to create a vertebra for the South American integration, which is essential nowadays and for the future. This is our vision, which is very clear for the Brazilian congressmen, he said.

The information was given by the Brazilian diplomat at his arrival at the Miraflores Presidential Palace to hold a meeting with the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez.

Amorín said that the Brazilian Congress is autonomous to take decisions; however, Lula's government is quite confident that the Parliament will take a decision in favor of Brazil, in favor of the Latin American integration and, in his opinion, in favor of Venezuela.

Foreign Affairs Minister Amorín said that the Brazilian government is working to reach that the Parliament finally approved Venezuela's joining to Mercosur

Venezuela's entry into Mercosur has not been fulfilled yet because the Congresses of Brazil and Paraguay have not approved its entry to the organization, which is also composed by Uruguay and Argentina.

Amorín stressed that before his arrival in Miraflores, he held a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, in the Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry. Both Ministers talked about the cooperation projects between both nations, the important role of Venezuela in the Latin American integration and its entry to Mercosur".
