(El Universal) - "Venezuela confirmed it donated US$ 1 million to Paraguay to fight a fire in over 1 million hectares of pasture fields and wild forest.

In its official website, the Venezuelan People's Ministry of Communication and IT said 'in view of the call made by Paraguay, a decision has been made to provide aid to counter the fires by sending two firefighting helicopters, economic aid, equipment and experts to face the emergency,' AP quoted.

The communiqué stated that Venezuela 'donated US$ 1 million in humanitarian aid for the communities affected, plus an economic contribution to rent a firefighting aircraft.'

According to the website, the contribution was provided under the policies of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA)".
